Warren to host Greek festival | News, Sports, Jobs



GREEK FESTIVAL SET: The 54th annual Warren Greek Festival will be Wednesday to July 28 at the St. Louis. Demeterios Center grounds, 3223 Atlantic St., Warren. Admission is free. The festival will include Greek food, dancing and rides. The festival will be open 4 to 10 pm Wednesday and Thursday, 4 to 11 pm Friday and Saturday, and 1 to 8 pm Sunday. For information, visit

LIBRARY SEEKS INPUT: The McKinley Memorial Library in Niles is seeking public input through a survey. The library is planning its future through the development of a strategic plan. The goal is to provide a premiere community library and to accomplish that, the library is seeking the public’s current and future needs. The survey is available in print form at the library and also online at The survey will be available through Aug. 14.

PONY RIDES: The Girard Free Library, Prospect Street, will host pony rides 10 am to noon Friday outside the library. The event is free to children. Rain date is July 26. The “Tails for Tales” summer reading program is for students in preschool to age 12.

REUNION PLANNED: The 143rd Chalker Norton Viets Family Reunion will be 1 pm Aug. 8 at Kool Lakes Campground, 12990 Nelson Ledge Road, Garrettsville. Those attending can bring a covered dish to share. An old fashioned cookout will be held. Swimming, fishing, play ground and cornhole will be provided. Canoe rentals will be available.

COLLECTION DAYS: The Geauga Trumbull Solid Waste Management District, 5138 Enterprise Blvd., Warren, will be open from 9 am to 4:30 pm Tuesdays and Fridays for appliances and electronics only and Wednesdays for household hazardous waste, appliances and electronics. Saturday hours are 9 am to noon on Aug. 7. The collections are for Trumbull and Geauga counties only. No latex paint, tires or commercial waste. Limit of two televisions.
